American woman stabbed son, daughter to death – Prosecutor
A suburban Chicago woman stabbed her
seven-year-old son 100 times because she was angry with her husband and a
five-year-old girl about 50 times because she witnessed the attack, as
both children prayed and begged for their lives, a prosecutors said on
Thursday.
DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert
Berlin said Elzbieta Plackowska, 40, told investigators several stories,
at first blaming the attack on a stalker who got into her home in
Naperville, 25 miles west of Chicago.
She later said the children had evil
inside of them and she was fighting the devil in the house, Berlin said
at a bond hearing, the Seattle Times reports.
Plackowska eventually admitted that she
was angry with her husband, who works as a truck driver and is often
gone, because he left her alone to care for her son, Justin, and work as
a maid, which she felt was beneath her, Berlin said.
“She told the detectives that she
thought by killing Justin she would make her husband hurt the way she
hurt in their relationship,” Berlin said.
Plackowska told investigators she found
the children jumping on the bed and then attacked them, also slitting
their throats, Berlin said.
“She had grabbed a knife and she made
both victims kneel and begin praying. She began stabbing her son Justin
and told him he was going to heaven tonight. He pleaded for his life and
told her to stop. But she continued stabbing him until he was dead,” he
said.
“She then turned her attention to
five-year-old Olivia and began stabbing her with the knife multiple
times. She as well pleaded for her life, but the defendant continued to
stab her until she was deceased.”
Plackowska killed the girl, Olivia Dworakowski, because the child had witnessed the attack on her son, Berlin said.
DuPage County Judge John Kinsella
ordered Plackowska held without bond. Plackowska didn’t speak during the
hearing other than to indicate she could not afford an attorney. The
judge appointed a public defender.
Aliko Dangote Makes Bloomberg List for World’s Richest People, Earns $3.5 billion so far in 2012
The magazine says the individuals mentioned on the list have a net worth that totals $2.7 trillion or the size of the GDP of France, the world’s biggest economy.
According to Bloomberg, “The ranking shows who’s on top (America Movil SAB Chairman Emeritus Carlos Slim, with a net worth of $77.5 billion), who’s faltering (Facebook Inc. Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg, who’s down $6.8 billion since Jan. 1) and who’s just wealthy enough to make our top 200 (SAS Institute Inc. co-founder John Sall, who’s worth $5.8 billion).
“Bill Gates and Warren Buffett, both in the top five, are household names. Yet nobody racked up billions faster than relatively unknown No. 3, Amancio Ortega of Spain. The 76-year-old founded Inditex SA, the world’s largest clothing retailer, which is known for its more than 1,600 trendy Zara stores. He made more than $18 billion from the start of the year through Oct. 5 – or about $66 million a day. That windfall was more than enough for the Spanish tycoon to eclipse Buffett – who’s now No. 4, with $48.4 billion as of Oct. 5.
“Ortega’s ascent coincides with an overall rise in retail stocks. Low cotton costs, cheap credit and demand for reasonably priced goods have driven shares of Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Inditex to records. Nine of the world’s 25 wealthiest people are retail moguls. Among them are Ikea founder Ingvar Kamprad, four members of the Walton family that controls Wal-Mart and Stefan Persson, the largest shareholder in Swedish clothing giant Hennes & Mauritz AB.”
Dangote was listed as number 62 with a networth of $13.5 billion and is said to have made another $3.5 billion so far this year.

Suspected Boko Haram members admitted killing policemen in Niger – CP
Suspected members of the dreaded Islamist sect – Boko Haram who were
nabbed in Minna, the Niger State capital recently by the police in
connection with two bomb factories in Maitumbi and Tunga in Bosso and
Chanchaga Local Government Areas of the state, have admitted to the
killing of policemen in the turbulent state.
This was made known by the Niger State Commissioner of Police, Mrs Nsirim in an interactive session with the management staff of the state Ministry of Livestock/Fisheries, led by its commissioner, Dr Isah Yahaya Vatsa, during her familiarisation tour of the ministry.
The police boss added that the suspects had since been transferred from the Force headquarters in Abuja.
“Our decision not to mention the exact number of the hoodlums so far arrested in connection with the bomb factories and not to parade them before newsmen or exhibit the dangerous items recovered from the scence of crime is hinged on the security implications. We are also still in search of a vital information as regards the criminal activities of the suspects in the state prior to their arrest,” she said.
She added that the recent donation of 50 patrol vans installed with communications gadgets by the Dr Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu-led administration in the state had augmented the performance of the command.

Police invite ACN, PDP leaders over Ekiti violence
The Police in Ekiti
State have invited the chairmen of the Action Congress of Nigeria and
the Peoples Democratic Party following the violence reported in some
parts of the state since Monday.
Our correspondent learnt
on Wednesday that Chief Jide Awe of the ACN and Mr. Makanjuola Ogundipe
of the PDP were invited to the police headquarters in Ado-Ekiti by the
Commissioner of Police, Mr. Sotonye Wakama.
The ACN chairman confirmed the invitation to our correspondent on the telephone.
Despite the invitation,
crisis broke out in Ikere on Wednesday over the announcement that former
Governor, Ayo Fayose, was going to hold a meeting in the town.
The Director General of
Ayo Fayose Campaign Organisation, Mr. Gboyega Oguntuase, told
journalists in Afao-Ekiti on Wednesday that the ACN started attacking
Fayose since the former governor was given waiver to seek elective
office.
He said despite the protest in Ikere, Fayose still met with the people and he was well received.
Awe, who said those attacking Fayose could be some of those who he “harassed, maimed and oppressed when he was in power.”
The ACN chairman said,
“Our party is not part of what happened to Fayose. The PDP is riddled
with crisis currently, they have many factions so the attacks could be
from those from other camps.
“Fayose himself is having irreconcilable
differences with many people in the state. There are some of them who
he dealt with while in office and who do not want to see his face. So he
is the architect of his own problem, he should leave our party out of
his problem.”

Electrician sentenced to death for murder
An electrician, Abdulkadiri Issa, was on Wednesday
sentenced to death by a Lagos High Court in Ikeja for the murder of Mrs.
Catherine Kate-Amadi in Ebute-Meta, Lagos in October 2006.
Thirty-one-year-old Issa was found guilty of stabbing
Kate-Amadi to death with a kitchen knife in her residence, where he had
been invited to repair electrical faults.
Issa was said to have locked himself up with the
corpse of the deceased in the house where policemen said they found him
hiding in the toilet.
Justice Iyabo Kasali, relying on circumstantial evidence adduced by the prosecution, said Issa was guilty of the murder.
She said, “There are contradictions in the evidence
of the defendant along with Exhibit P4 which is the statement of the
defendant.
“The evidence of PW1, PW2 and PW3 is credible, irresistible and I find that the defendant killed the deceased.
“The prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt. The defendant is hereby sentenced to death by hanging.”
The defence counsel, Mr. Yemi Omodele, had urged the
court to discharge and acquit his client, on the basis that the case of
the prosecution, led by A.O Bajulaye, was only based on suspicion.
He faulted the prosecution’s case for failing to
tender any medical evidence to establish the “act or omission” of the
accused which led to the death of the victim.
Though the third prosecution witness, PW3,
Investigating Police Officer, Patrick Nnadi, said autopsy was conducted
on the deceased, no evidence relating to the autopsy was given in court.
The prosecution conceded that the Consultant
Pathologist and Chief Medical Examiner of the Lagos State University
Teaching Hospital, Prof. John Obafunwa, was unable to give evidence in
the case due to his appointment as “Vice-Chancellor and other
administrative issues.”
Omodele also said the evidence of the first and
second prosecution witnesses, PW1, Chief T.I Enyinma, the deceased’s
cousin; and PW2, Charles Osuagwu, the deceased’s brother-in-law, was
only based on hearsay.
The lawyer said the person who first informed Enyinma
of the murder of the deceased before he (Enyinma) contacted Osuagwu to
visit the house of the deceased, was unknown.
He argued that it was untenable to convict an accused simply because he was found at the scene of a crime.
Omodele had argued that “it is unheard” that a person
who killed would lock himself in the same room where he committed the
crime.
He urged the court to believe his client, who he said was “unshaken” under cross-examination.
Issa had, in his testimony, told the court that he used to go to the deceased’s flat to help her with electrical repairs.
He said he could remember that on the day of the
incident, he was slapped by one of the two men sitting with the deceased
at the time she went into the house.
Issa said he slumped and that by the time he regained
consciousness he found people in the house surrounding the deceased in
her pool of blood.
He was arraigned on December 7, 2009 on one-count of murder said to have been committed on October 30, 2006.
Confusion as Ekiti removes envoy as Regent
Ekiti State Government on Wednesday announced Mrs.
Comfort Idowu as the new Regent of Ilasa-Ekiti in Ekiti State, barely 24
hours after Nigerian Ambassador to Republic of Congo, Princess Jolaade
Onipede, was installed as Regent of the town.
The Commissioner for Information, Mr. Funminiyi
Afuye, at a press conference, announced Idowu as the “rightful and
lawful Regent” of the town.
Afuye said the government had taken its decision based on the recommendations from the appropriate authorities.
He said, “The state government hereby confirms Mrs.
Comfort Dayo Idowu as the rightful and lawful regent of Ilasa-Ekiti. As
far as the state government is concerned, traditional institution in
Ilasa recommended the name of Mrs. Comfort Dayo Idowu to the Ekiti East
Local Government and the local government recommended to the state
government.”
However, Onipede, who was a special adviser on
chieftaincy affairs during former governor, Mr. Segun Oni’s
administration, said what the government did was a ruse.
She said she would not allow the state government to trample on the culture and tradition of the people of the town.
Onipede, who is the daughter of the Late Oba Abel
Ajibola, who died on October 1, 2012, said the tradition of the town was
that the eldest daughter of the late monarch ascends the thrown as the
Regent.
She said, “It is a ruse, the commissioner does not
know the tradition of Ilasa and he is not a native of the town. All the
kingmakers of Ilasa will not come together and make a mistake. They are
the people to announce and have done that.
“Idowu cannot come to my father’s palace and room.
She will have to go to Afuye’s village to serve as Regent and not Ilasa.
The state government does not know the rule.”
Onipede, after her installation on Monday, said she would not spend
more than six months on the throne and asked the next ruling house to
come up with its candidate.
Kogi warns impostors in flood relief camps
The Kogi State Deputy Governor, Mr. Yomi Awoniyi, on
Wednesday in Lokoja, warned impostors at the various relief camps to
leave in their own interest.
Awoniyi, who spoke on the state’s government’s
efforts at rehabilitating victims of the flood disaster, said government
would apprehend and punish those whose houses were not affected by the
flood but who were currently occupying the various camps in the state.
He urged the flood victims not to rush back to their houses.
He said the state government was determined to embark
on a thorough and long-term planning that would prevent future flood
disaster in the State.
He also said the state’s Town Planning Development
Board had commenced enumeration of all buildings that were affected by
the flood in the state.
In a statement by the Kogi State Commissioner for
Information, Alhaji Yabagi Bologi, Awoniyi, who is also the Chairman of
the Flood Disaster Management Committee, said the markings being made on
buildings by the board do not indicate that the buildings would be
pulled down.
He added that integrity tests would be carried out on
each of the buildings by professionals, while their location, in
relation to the river bank, would be examined before identifying which
ones that would be demolished.

WARRI—SEVEN persons were burnt to death, yesterday, in an auto crash along Agbor-Abavo-Asaba highway.
An eyewitness, Comrade Austin Ozobo, who is the national president of Ijaw People Development Initiative, IPDI, told Vanguard that the accident occurred at about 3.40 pm, adding that there were four survivors, who were rushed to an undisclosed hospital.
He said: “A bus carrying about 11 passengers reportedly collided with a Peugeot J5 bus, which lost control.
“It is quite disturbing. I saw human beings burning alive and there was nothing anybody could do to stop the fire.
“Immediately it happened, there was an explosion and the bus caught fire. There was no fire service, even when the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC officials, came later, nobody could do anything. People were just watching until they were burnt. There were only four survivors.”

Okada ban in Delta: No going back on Nov 1 date – Commissioner
Asaba—DELTA State Commissioner for Transport, Mr. Benson Igbakpa, has
said there was no going back on the ban on commercial motorcycles,
popularly known as Okada, as the ban takes effect today.
He made it clear that the restriction would begin today in Warri, Asaba and Effurun, warning that the ban did not exclude private motorcycle users.
He said: ”Anybody who may claim to be using his or her motorcycle for private purposes or haulage should construct a carriage at the back signifying that it is not a passenger motorcycle.
“With the transport arrangements already on ground, we can move as much as 21,000 passengers at a time. So there is no going back on the November 1 take off date for the restriction order because the state governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, has been magnanimous enough.”
Governor Uduaghan had extended the ban by one month to enable a better take off of the system.
Already, the presence of tricycles on the streets of Asaba has become prominent in the last couple of days.
While some passengers that usually patronized Okada told our reporter that they were not comfortable with the ban as the tricycles would not be able to go into rough terrains, others heaved a sigh of relief over the ban.
Commissioning 1,250 tricycles to be used in place of motorcycles, the governor had warned politicians not to interfere with the distribution of the tricycles as it was exclusively reserved for commercial motorcycle operators.
The governor, who subsidized the cost of the tricycles up to 70 per cent, from N400,000 to N150,000, warned operators of the tricycles to restrict themselves to routes approved for them.
He noted that the introduction of the tricycles was to replace and gradually phase out commercial motorcycles as part of measures to ensure safety in the transport sector and promote security in the state.

Living in Lagos without Okada: Lagosians share their experiences
For a couple of days now, living in Lagos has become a sort of hell
to some people. No thanks to the ban on commercial motorcyclists,
otherwise known as Okada from plying some roads in the state.
The enforcement of the ban took a new dimension early this week when the okada operators took to the streets to protest indiscriminate arrest of their members and subsequent seizure of their motorcycles, and the process, destroyed public facilities including BRT buses.
This it was learnt, angered the state government warranting a heavy clampdown on the defaulters by enforcing agents. As a result of this, okada riders across the state suspended their operations. The situation is compounded by the ‘perceived’ scarcity of petroleum products. Perceived because, it is believed that the scarcity was created by greedy marketers who hoard the products only to sell at odd hours.
All these have made life miserable for Lagosians. At every bus stop, commuters are seen stranded while some were left with no option than to take a long trek to their destinations.
Some of the commuters who spoke to our reporter said they lacked appropriate words to described the hardship they are going through and called on the state government to immediately address the situation.
Even car owners were not spared. The ban has witnessed an increase in number of vehicles on the roads, as those who rarely use their cars , for fear of being held up in traffic and miss business engagements, had no option than to use their cars and spend hours in traffic.
Those who commented on this issue were of the view that the government should have put some measures in place before full implementation of the new law, so as to cushion the effects on residents.
Mr Christopher, a journalist with one of the national dailies in Lagos, said the ban has made his work more difficult, particularly in meeting up deadline.
“Yesterday, I spent over an hour at a bus stop in the morning and over two hours in the traffic. The same thing happened in the evening. It was a terrible experience that I wouldn’t want my enemy to have.”
A banker, Kola and Zico, a trader at Ladipo market also shared similar experiences and opined that it is becoming unbearable to live in Lagos.
Most of the people who shared their ordeals with us maintain that the ban on okada was not bad in itself but stressed that everything was wrong about its implementation. They accused the police and other law enforcement agents of extorting money from okada riders even from those plying approved routes.
They suggested that for the law to be effective, government should provide alternative means of transportation, open new routes and repair bad roads. They also called for close monitoring of the activities of enforcement agents, to check their excesses.
Do have your say:
However, if you are in Lagos, feel free to share your experiences with us and what you think should be the solution- the best ways to go about the implementation of the new traffic laws.

Retired FG workers groan over unpaid N11bn pensions
By Soni Daniel, Regional Editor, North
ABUJA — Hundreds of Nigerian workers who retired from the employ of the Federal Government have not been paid their pension in the past six months, Vanguard has learnt.
The government has, however, not been able to explain to the affected workers why it had not remitted its share of the contributory pensions to the National Pension Commission, Pencom, for onward remittance to their respective Pension Funds Administrators, PFAs.
There are at least 54,558 retirees from public and private sectors of the economy, who collect a monthly sum of N1.77 billion under the Contributory Pension Scheme,CPS.
Under the scheme, the Federal Government makes available a certain amount of money while the workers contribute a certain percentage of their salary to sustain the CPS, which is being administered by PENCOM but remitted monthly via their chosen PFAs.
However, finding by Vanguard revealed that the Federal Government had not remitted its share of the pension fund to the pension agency since May this year.
The delay in remitting the amount, which is said to be in the region of N11 billion, has caused anxiety among the beneficiaries, who daily throng the premises of the commission to seek clarifications on why they have not been paid.
Some of the retirees were sighted at the commission premises, yesterday, in small groups to demand payment but did not get any at the end of the day.
The Pension Commission, it was gathered, has been managing to calm down the aggrieved retirees, who believe erroneously that it is the agency that is holding on to their payment.
Paradoxically, the commission has refused to comment on the development, apparently out of the fear of being reprimanded for presenting its employers in bad light.
Although our correspondent visited the commission to find out why the retirees were not paid, no official was willing to talk on the development, although they tried to appeal to the growing number of retirees that their money would soon be paid.
One of the affected pensioners told Vanguard that it was unbecoming of the government to withhold its own share of the pension at a time the cost of living was becoming almost unbearable for the average Nigerian.
“We want to know why the government is keeping back our little entitlement and that is why we are here,” one elderly woman, who retired some years ago from the Federal Pay Office, Minna, said.
Several attempts to talk with officials of PENCOM proved abortive, as they relevant officers were said to be attending to some other pressing issues at the time.
The Federal Government had recently released N34 billion for the settlement of outstanding pensions of the affected retirees before the accumulation of the new figure.
However a competent source said that the government was aware of the unremitted amount and would soon release money to offset the backlog.

“We are saving other women from rape” – Prostitutes in Kano
Good afternoon
My brother, how are you? Are you for me this night? My name is Dorcas.
Well, I would not say that I am not for you but let us see how we can assist each other. What are you taking?
Please don’t disturb my business this night because market today is too bad. I have not been patronised today, but you can give me small stout and chicken to wipe away my sorrow until I find a good customer, since you are only interested in ordinary friendship and not for ‘the real thing’.
(I called for small stout and maltina and two plates of chicken)
So, what is the reason for bad business?
Na this security threat wey don force our customers not to feel safe patronising us again. When town was good, I de go home with at least N8,000 before waiting in my room for my ‘boyfriend, or whoever is ready for TDB.
What is TDB?
TDB means Till Day Break — whoever will sleep with me from night till tomorrow. On a good market day, depending on the quality of the person concerned, an average TDB may fetch me at least between N5,000 and N10,000. Besides the TDB, I usually had up to four customers everyday who would pay at least N3,000 each per hour at the end of the show, but things have changed completely. Now, I hardly see two customers per day and the worst part of it is that most of these customers are now afraid to sleep outside because they don’t trust anybody again.
If you are asked to follow me home, would you do it and how much will you charge?
In the past we normally did that but now we don’t do that again especially because of ritualists.
Ritualists? What is it about them?
My brother, let me go and make business because I have to settle rent tomorrow, I pay N3,000 everyday for the room I use and failure to pay means I will be ejected by the hotelier.
Before you go, why can’t you be sharing a room with another student so as to reduce cost?
No, apart from the risky side of it, it is not good economically. Most men don’t like sharing their privacy with unknown ‘students’.
Most of your customers are from which area?
You too dey ask too many questions, but let me tell you, it is because I knew from the onset that you are a journalist that I even agreed to answer you.
Secondly, to answer your question properly, there is no tribe that is not into prostitution and there is no tribe that does not patronise our services; as Yoruba come, Igbo do, while the Hausas also patronise us. One thing I want you to know is that, we ‘students’ also have our own advantage to the community. If not because of our services, most women and ladies could have ended up being raped, but the good side of it is that any man that needs ‘quick service’, will come to us and this will automatically discourage him from engaging in rape which could land them in jail. Oya, a dey go.
The reporter then spoke with Amina (not real name) who said she hailed from Ede in Osun State. She was into the trade out of frustration. “I have two children for my husband, but my husband left us and I have had to take care of my children. So, I decided to sell what I have to make ends meet.”
Hajiya Halima at her Ijebu road hotel was also engaged. ‘I don’t derive joy from this business, but since there is no other available option for me to take at this crucial time, and as you know ‘man must wack’, I found myself doing this. But I have promised myself that as soon as I make some tidy amount of money, I would quit the job.”
Hajiya Halima, however, admitted that many of her mates had relocated out of Kano to the southern part of the country because of security problems of Boko Haram.
Theresa, who hails from one of the southern states in the country was next. She told the Saturday Tribune that she was a student from one of the universities in Kano. She ‘sells sex’ in a hotel on Abeokuta road on Fridays. She said that before, she used to realise as much as N20,000 per day after deducting all transport expenses but business ‘is bad now’ no thanks to Boko Haram and its deadly activities.
“We also have a doctor who examines us in case of sexually transmitted diseases. However, most of our parents at home in the southern part of the country do not know that we engage in prostitution. All we tell them is that we are working in Kano,” Theresa said.
Her other colleagues who ply their trade along the ‘streets of sex’ also had tales of woe to tell. “The problem is not just low patronage, there is also “frequent arrest by security operatives,” they said.
Ondo Elections: PDP Accepts Defeat, Congratulates Mimiko
The National Leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP
has accepted defeat and congratulated the Governor-elect in the Saturday
Ondo State gubernatorial election, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko.
The PDP in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary on Sunday, Chief Olisa Metuh, however hailed its candidate, Chief Olusola Oke for his courage, determination and doggedness, adding, ‘’though the PDP was not declared the winner of the election, the Party was happy with the performance of its candidate “who obviously joined the race late.”The PDP also commended the people of Ondo State for what it termed their emphatic rejection of tribalism and narrow political adventurism which it stressed were the hallmark of the campaign of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN in the just concluded gubernatorial election.
‘’How better do Nigerians say no to the drumbeats of tribalism and political narrowness than what the people of Ondo have just done with their votes? It is a quantum forward leap for those who understand the dangers of undue manipulation of national diversity for narrow political whims and a huge set back, utter rejection for the champions of ethnic politics.
‘’While we commend, Chief Olusola Oke, his running mate, members and supporters of our party, we wish to also congratulate Chief Olusegun Mimiko on his victory. In spite, another lesson is here for the nation, especially the opposition political parties to draw from the commitment of our great Party to the full entrenchment of the legacy of free, fair and credible polls.
“Ostensible is the manifest unwavering devotion of President Goodluck Jonathan to the cause of democracy. He led the campaign of our Party to Ondo and promised free and fair election. Free and fair election he has once more delivered.”
Also hailing the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and the security agencies for the peaceful conduct of the polls, the PDP however urged ‘’them to learn from any observed loopholes so as to continue improving in future elections.’

Snoop Dogg celebrates birthday with Ashley Cole’s ex at the Playboy Mansion
The rapper rested his hand on Melissa Howe’s bare midriff as she leaned into him at the racy bash in Hollywood.
Melissa and twin sister Carla wore sequinned bras and little else as they partied until sunrise at the event, which was attended by celebs including Owen Wilson.
Melissa famously had a fling with Cheryl Cole’s ex husband Ashley in 2011.
After four dates in just two weeks, the Chelsea ace reportedly asked her to move into his London pad.
However the redhead rejected his advances, insisting it was too soon.
Earlier this year, Melissa and Carla also attracted the attention of randy comic Russell Brand.

19 Women Allegedly Raped In Benue IDP's Camps
No
fewer than 19 young girls have been reportedly raped at four of the
designated resettlement camps established for flood victims in Makurdi,
the Benue State capital.
Vanguard
Newspaper investigations revealed that rape cases have become a daily
occurrence in the four official camps spread across the state capital
for flood victims.
It
was also gathered that perpetrators of the unholy act were young men
who reside in the camps with their victims and some who come from within
the communities where the camps are situated.
From
Wurukum to Saint Catherine and Wadata camps, it was the same sad story.
One of the victims, a girl of 19 who craved anonymity disclosed that
she was raped two days ago at about 10pm by a young man she couldn’t
identify.
She
said: “I just walked back into the camp after I had visited a former
neighbour in town. I got into the camp that evening, while walking
towards the classrooms where we sleep, somebody called my name from a
dark spot.
“I
tried to find out who it was, but before I knew what was happening,
somebody grabbed me from behind and threatened that he would stab me to
death if I shouted. He grabbed me down and raped me.
“I
am not the only one they have done this to, there are so many other
girls; there are over 19 of us that have been raped in the last few
days, but we are all hiding it because of the shame, but if we don’t cry
out we will not get help because we are helpless.”
“And
if we don’t cry out because of the shame, the people behind this evil
acts will continue to torment girls and women in the camps.”
When
contacted, the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, for Benue
State, Assistant Suprintendent of Police Ejike Alaribe said the rape
cases have not been brought to the notice of the Police.
Alaribe,
however, assured that the Police would intensify its surveillance
around the camps in the town to stem the unhealthy development.

nationwide tours of flood affected states, the National Emergency
Management Agency, NEMA, has confirmed the registration of 88740
Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, in Adamawa, Benue and Taraba states.
According
to a statement by NEMA and signed by Head, Public Relations, Alhaji
Yushau A. Shuaib, in Abuja, the IDPs were registered by emergency and
rescue workers after the floods that submerged houses and washed away
farmlands.
The
statement said: ”In Adamawa State which was worst hit, emergency
workers recorded 46,030 Internally Displaced Persons in seven affected
local government councils.
“In
Benue State 19505 IDPs were recorded from six affected local government
councils, while in Taraba, the emergency workers registered 23,205 IDPs
in camps that are spread in seven local government councils of the
state.”
Shuaib
noted that NEMA officials had collaborated with major stakeholders,
especially respective State Emergency Management Agencies, SEMAs,
response agencies, Red Cross Society and recognised volunteers in the
establishment and management of the camps where the IDPs were
temporarily accommodated.
He said relief materials had also been provided to the victims.

Nollywood Actress, Mercy Aigbe Shares Her Son's Pictures With Fans
Mercy
Aigbe is all you can think of for an artiste; sassy, witty, beautiful,
and daring. Even more remarkable about her is motherhood and the
complete investment to family.
The actress who flaunted her new black Infinity FX50 jeep on-line some days ago, thinks showing off her cute son Omogbolahan Gentry will prove that she is also proud of him just like the Jeep.
The friendly actress and a mother of two got married to her millionaire husband, Larry Gentry a few years back.

See groom fondlíng his wife's prívates on wedding day
First and foremost, let us make
something clear, and that is that when you look down you will see 2
pictures, which is obviously the same guy doing his thing under his
newly wedded lady's thing. In my opinion this could never be a reality,
but if it happens the lady and the guy will never be allowed in our
family house.
What would you have said and done if you were the closest friend to the bride and groom?
Chris Brown cuts Karrueche completely out of his life
According to Hollywood Life, Chris Brown has completely cut Karrueche Tran out of his life...
Sources have it that Karrueche and Chris have only spoken so they can facilitate her move out of his place, a move that is nearly over.
“…he don’t f**k with her like that right now and [he's] not [talking] with her either – other than set up times for her to come get her s**t but that was last week. She still got a few things at the crib, but a lot of her s**t [is] already out,” our source says.
Really one needs to ask what kind of source talks like this. Trust TON, we got mad sources.

"I Slept With My Best Friend’s Husband" - Lady Confesses, seeks help
I have a problem that I can’t share with anyone close to me.
My best friend and I grew up together and since the day we met when we were 11 we were inseparable. We did and still do everything together. We went to the same University and we were roommates after we graduated for a couple years.
She ended up moving out with her fiance and I bought a house and focused on my career. Since then we definitely don’t spend as much time together as we used to and because our lives took different turns. She’s had 3 babies in the last few years and I am the Godmother of the last born. We still live fairly close to each other and her husband and I became close over the time they dated up until now.
I think he’s a good looking man and I always thought he was attractive. Lately, he’s been complaining about her not taking care of herself, not losing the baby weight and always looking shabby but he works out all the time and complained to me about her not going to the gym and changing over the duration of their marriage.
A few weeks ago I babysat for her and she forgot to take some the clothes she bought to my house so she sent her husband to come get them. It was late and I had been drinking and when he came in I offered him a drink which led to about 3 drinks and we ended up having sex.
My friend called me right before he left and said that she was so happy that me and her husband are friends and that we get along so well and that she could trust me with him. I’ve betrayed my best friend and Godchildren in the worse way possible and I can’t live with myself .I’m so shamed of my actions and giving into my impulses.
I haven’t been able to talk to her like we normally do and I don’t know what to do……I made a HUGE mistake.
I Want To Stop Smoking But I Can't - Female Lawyer
Hello,
I hope you're having a good Sunday. I'm sure you get a lot of mails but
I'll appreciate it if you can post mine as I'd like to get advice from
people who've been in my shoes. My problem isn't relationship or séx related, its smoking. I'm a 27 year old lady and a successful lawyer.
I've been smoking since I was 18, I started it just for the fun of it but then I eventually got addicted. Its so bad, my parents even know and beg me to desist from it but I just can't. I'd much rather smoke than eat. I know of the health hazards (obviously) and presently I'm having serious chest pains and shortness of breathe but I still can't help myself. Also I worry that my smoking must have driven away several prospective suitors/boyfriends because of the light in which it is seen in Nigeria. Please click to continue reading.
Mind you, I'm not wayward or anything; I'd much rather smoke in the confines of a room than out in the open (in fact sometimes I lodge in guest houses all by myself for a day or two just so that I can just chill and smoke). I don't do weed or skunk, just cigarettes. Anyway I don't want to drone on and on but I would really appreciate tips on quitting smoking .
And also I would like to hear from guys, I know there's a double standard, but what do you think about women who smoke? Would u consider a serious relationship/marriage with a lady who smokes, is it a deal breaker? I'm asking because I'm a successful career-driven lady who's well groomed and also very pretty (I'm not being conceited). I'm also quite domesticated and generally a decent person. But I sometimes wonder if smoking is the reason for some failed relationships I've been in.
Thanks and God bless you. Have a great week ahead.

Man breaks children's arms with his bike for punishment
Looking at this picture closely it
is obvious it reeks of inhumane behaviors, and if this man isn't watched
closely he might just do more than what was done to the Aluu4 and make
it even look like child's play. Obviously this is far from Nigeria, but
one just have to feel for this children that don't have a choice but to
take on this punishment that will most likely send them to the hospital.
Photo: 4palms, 1bathroom, no face. what could be happening here?
This is one question that needs
urgent answers, and fast. Imagine you are showed the picture of such a
thing that happened in your house and the only people you left at home
were your husband and housegirl. What would come to your mind first?
Chris Brown 'Determined To Make Relationship With Rihanna Work'
He
dumped his girlfriend Karrueche Tran last week citing his 'freindship'
with ex lover Rihanna and now sources close to Chris Brown say the
singer is determined to make things work with RiRi.
Friends of the star tell Hollywoodlife.com that Chris has got rid of other women in his life to make a go of things with his ex Rihanna.
After
being spotted on multiple dates last week- including allegedly hooking
up in a New York club bathroom- Chris is apparently turning serious in a
bid to win back RiRi for good.
“Right now, it’s pretty much on with Chris and Ri,” a source reveals to HollywoodLife.com
“I
mean, they been doing their thing for months now. They on top on the
world and they know that and them together – man, that’s just the
business.”
As
for that video that Chris posted following his split from Karrueche,
where he declared his love for both women, the source reckons: “He was
real in his feelings and his thoughts and that’s the message he wanted
to get out there."
“He
will always have feelings for Karrueche and she knows that. He’s torn
between two females, you feel me, but he chose Ri and that’s that! Point
blank – period.”
The
insider goes onto insist that it’s “really real” this time around for
Chris and Rihanna and that they “really do love each other and he’s
going to make sure he get it right this time.”
This report is in stark contrast to another source who claims that Chris is begging Karrueche to take him back:
"Chris
has been in constant communication with Karrueche ever since she dumped
him. She ended it with Chris because he was just blatantly flaunting
his dalliances with Rihanna, but now he's telling how sorry he is, and
how much he loves her,"a source told RadarOnline.
"She
is just too hurt to even go there at this point. Karrueche just wants a
break from all of this drama, and she knows that Chris wants whatever
he can't have."
We don't know what to believe!

Yesterday, Monday, June 25, Cossy posted a picture online and accompanied it with some words.
According to her, "[this is] my new swimming trunk. [I] just love this pink and black no."
Cossy is known for the display of her large b**bs. Maybe she wants to change the what she displays from the upper body parts to the lower part. Time will tell.
Bomb Explosion In Zaria, Kaduna State Kills Two
An explosion and gunfire shook an area around an Islamic school in Zaria, Kaduna state Sunday, leaving two suspected attackers dead and others wounded, emergency officials said.
Details of the blast in the northern Nigerian city of Zaria were sketchy, with initial reports saying that the blast occurred inside the school but a government spokesman later saying that it went off near it.
“It’s close to a boarding school called Albani,” National Emergency Management Agency spokesman Yushau Shuaib said.
“Two suspects were killed. The innocent victims that were injured were taken to hospital.”
Two of the presumed attackers were killed when they exchanged gunfire with security forces after the explosion, he said.
Another relief official said there had also been an exchange of fire between security forces and gunmen Saturday night.
The Boko Haram sect has not claimed responsibility for this attack that backfired badly.
Shuaib said it appeared the school was the target based on initial information that the attackers had sent a warning asking students to evacuate. He was not immediately able to provide further details.
Attackers and security forces appeared to exchange gunfire after the explosion, leaving the two suspects dead, he said.
Another relief official said there had also been an exchange of fire between security forces and gunmen Saturday night. He said Sunday morning’s explosion was the result of an improvised explosive device.
Nigeria’s north has been hit by scores of bombings and shootings blamed on Boko Haram, whose insurgency is blamed for more than 1,400 deaths since 2010. A string of attacks have also hit the country’s centre.
In June, two churches were attacked in Zaria and one in the city of Kaduna, both cities located in Kaduna state.
The church attacks left at least 16 people dead and sparked reprisals by Christian mobs who burned mosques and targeted Muslims, killing dozens. Boko Haram claimed responsibility for the attacks.
Boko Haram has claimed to be fighting for the creation of an Islamic state in Nigeria’s north, though its demands have repeatedly shifted.
It is believed to have a number of factions with varying aims, in addition to imitators and criminal groups who carry out violence under the guise of the group.
Gunmen Kill At Least 20 Students Of Federal Polytechnic In Mubi, Adamawa State
The attack happened at a student hostel away from the Federal Polytechnic Mubi campus, the source said.
A lecturer told the BBC that more than 40 students had been killed but there has been no official comment.
The reported killing comes days after a major operation against the Boko Haram militant group in the town.
The lecturer, who did not want his name to be used, told the BBC's Hausa service that the students were asked to say their names after lining up.
He says it is not clear why some were killed and others spared - some of those killed were Muslims.
"Everybody is scared and staying indoors now," he said.
He added that students were now leaving the town - they have dmolestd tree branches over their cars, which is a traditional sign of neutrality in Nigeria.
Boko Haram militants fighting to establish Islamic law in Nigeria have killed more than 1,000 people in northern and central areas this year.

Rio Ferdinand return unlikely says Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson
Sir Alex Ferguson does not expect Rio Ferdinand to be recalled to the
England set-up, admitting it would be difficult for national team boss
Roy Hodgson to bring back the Manchester United defender now after
leaving him out of his Euro 2012 squad.
Ferdinand's international future became the subject of speculation again following John Terry's shock decision to quit England ahead of his Football Association racism hearing.
Hodgson said he had left Ferdinand out of his Euro 2012 squad for "footballing reasons", insisting it had nothing to do with Terry having been accused of racially abusing Ferdinand's brother Anton during a Barclays Premier League game at October 23.
And United manager Ferguson does not see the position changing now.
"It's entirely up to Rio but I wouldn't think he'll get called up," said Ferguson.
"Roy made his decision for the European Championship and I can't see him changing that.
"It would be difficult for him to go to Rio now and welcome him back."
Ferdinand has said he would never turn his back on England, even if privately he believed his international career was destined to end on 81 caps.
"You never know," said Ferguson. "But I think it's difficult.
"I don't know if Rio would do it - I haven't asked him."
Hodgson does have alternatives to Ferdinand. But Joleon Lescott and Phil Jagielka struggled when Terry missed the World Cup qualifier with Ukraine at Wembley earlier this month.
Gary Cahill was also in Hodgson's squad, having missed out on Euro 2012 through injury, but only has 10 caps, while Manchester United duo Chris Smalling and Phil Jones are both presently missed with foot and knee problems respectively.
